What Is A Pregnancy Test?

A pregnancy test is a medical test that checks for the presence of pregnancy by detecting the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). This hormone is produced only during pregnancy and can be detected through either a blood or urine sample.

What Type of Pregnancy Test Is Provided At EPIC Center?

At the EPIC Center, we offer a free urine pregnancy test. This test is non-invasive, quick, and highly accurate. It provides reliable results during your appointment, so you won’t have to wait to know the outcome. Our trained staff will administer the test and discuss the results with you right away.

How Does A Pregnancy Test Work?

Pregnancy tests detect the presence of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), a hormone produced by the placenta soon after fertilization. This hormone is detectable in your body very early in pregnancy, typically within the first few weeks. If hCG is found, the test result will be positive, indicating a pregnancy.

Why Should I Test Again?

While home pregnancy tests can be convenient and cost-effective, they are not always 100% accurate. There are several factors that can cause false results, including:

Will A Pregnancy Test Tell Me How Far Along I Am?

A pregnancy test will confirm if you are pregnant, but it will not tell you how far along you are. Knowing your pregnancy’s gestational age is essential for understanding your options moving forward. To get this information, an ultrasound is needed. We offer free ultrasound services at the EPIC Center, which will help determine how far along you are and provide you with additional information to make an informed decision.

What If I’m Scared To Take A Test?

It’s completely normal to feel anxious, scared, or uncertain about taking a pregnancy test. You are not alone in feeling this way. This can be a challenging experience, and we understand that. Whatever emotions you’re going through, we’re here to offer support, guidance, and care during this time. You don’t have to navigate this alone—we’re here for you every step of the way.

The center has helped me be a better parent. I learned a lot of stuff by coming here, things I wouldn’t have thought of really—I mean, I had no idea… and I got to come talk about babies and get out of the house. I got to be around other moms going through the same things [as me]. All the babies are here! Last week was crazy. I love going where all the babies are.
