While the only way to confirm your pregnancy is by taking a test, there are some early symptoms to watch for that could indicate you’re pregnant.

EPIC Center is a safe, compassionate place for women with unintended pregnancies to turn to. We provide urine-based, lab-quality pregnancy tests and limited ultrasounds after a positive pregnancy test result. You’ll receive the health information you need to move forward.

Signs and Symptoms to Watch For

While you may not experience every pregnancy sign or symptom on this list (and some women don’t have any), these are relatively common and may occur:

  • Missed period: You will not have a period during pregnancy, and a common first sign that you’re pregnant is a missed period.
  • Fatigue: Do you feel sleepier than usual or need to take frequent naps? Fatigue is common, especially during early pregnancy. An increase in progesterone may be the reason why you’re feeling tired.
  • Frequent urination: Increased blood volume during pregnancy can result in you using the bathroom more often. As your pregnancy progresses, pressure on your bladder, among other reasons, can cause this symptom to continue.
  • Tender, swollen breasts: Hormonal changes can make your breasts feel uncomfortable. This symptom will go away as your pregnancy continues.
  • Nausea (with or without vomiting): Pregnancy hormones might cause feelings of nausea. “Morning sickness” can occur at any time of the day or night, but many women find it subsides over time.
  • Food aversions: Do you find that you can’t stand the taste of foods you once enjoyed? Are certain smells difficult for you? Hormonal changes are likely the cause.
  • Moodiness: You might be more emotional than usual or have mood swings. These changes are normal but speak with a medical provider if they are disruptive.
